In 2013, unfortunately 191 workers were fatally injured at work. This is 16% lower than the 228 deaths recorded in 2012 and 39% lower than the highest number of worker deaths recorded in the series (311) in 2007.

Farm Safety Induction App improving safety
This years theme for Farm Safety Week is ‘Safe Farms – Healthy Farmers’ and targets practical issues that farmers can take to improve safety and health for themselves, their workers and family members. A free phone app has also been released to help farmers with safety inductions for new workers on their farm.
Lowest number of work-related deaths in 11 years
Australian workplaces have recorded the lowest number of fatalities in 11 years according to data released by Safe Work Australia in the report Work-related Traumatic Fatalities, Australia 2014.
