WorkSafe Victoria has today welcomed 20 new inspectors to its frontline team.

Minister for Finance, Robin Scott, and WorkSafe Acting Chief Executive, Clare Amies, presented the new graduates with their certificate of appointment and their inspector badge in front of about 100 colleagues, family and friends this morning.

Today’s graduation marks the completion of an intensive training and coaching program for the inspectors, which began earlier this year.

The new inspectors have backgrounds in a wide range of industries, including emergency services, transport and logistics, construction, engineering and manufacturing.

Minister for Finance, Robin Scott, said the new inspectors will be assets to the WorkSafe team, joining a group of dedicated professionals improving health and safety and helping people return to work. WorkSafe’s Acting Chief Executive, Clare Amies, said the new inspectors would take up positions in key locations across the state.

“A key focus of WorkSafe inspectors is to equip workplaces with all the tools necessary to make informed decisions about health and safety, and their approach to navigating the return to work process,” Ms Amies said.

In 2013-14, WorkSafe inspectors conducted 41,566 visits to Victorian workplaces and issued 15,834 improvement notices in relation to health and safety and return to work issues.
